Taproot December 16, 2008 @ Fletcher's
by Courtney Campbell & Michelle Lee
Having seen Taproot over the years starting back in 2001 at Ozzfest, they never fail to amaze me. Why isn't this band bigger in the whole scheme of things? Playing a small venue in Baltimore on December 16th, they didn't even pack the place. Why? They have good stage presence, great vocals on their front man ,Stephen Richards, and great songs, but except for their hit single, "Poem", back in late 2002, they haven't been heard much.

While they didn't sell out Fletchers, those that were there were very vocal and animated. The floor was moving at all times and at one point, one of the venue staff had to come and tell some of the guys to "chill". The crowd yelled out for songs during set and Stephen played along as the band went through the set saying, " I thought I heard a request for ......", and then they played that song, even though they were going to play it anyway. They did stray a bit from their set as they switched out a song and added some that the crowd wanted to hear and as usual there was one person that kept yelling for a certain song. There's always one person that does that.

They ended the set with the first single, "Wherever I Stand", from their new album, Our Long Road Home, and the song, "Poem", without returning for an encore even though the crowd was very vocal about wanting more.
