First off I have to say I LOVE MxPx! That being said, when they didn't have any tour dates in the mid-atlantic region near us of course that meant a road trip to northern New Jersey to see them. Bamboozle here we come!
So MxPx was to play around 5:30 and we decided to get there around noon so we could hang out and also see a few other bands along the way. Unfortunately the traffic patterns in Delaware weren't included in our planning. We didn't get up to the venue until close to when Red Jumpsuit Apparatus was due to go on stage. After being sent to three different entrances to the venue to find the guest list, we finally went in with MxPx's tour manager. (Thanks Tommy!) We already decided by this time that no matter WHO was playing this festival next year, we weren't going!
By the time MxPx took the stage we were freezing. The temperature felt to be in the low 40s and most people not in the cramped crowd were wearing gloves (it is May not November!). MxPx definitely heated things up with their set of punk rock favorites. They kicked things off with "Secret Weapon" and the crowd was moving and singing along during the entire set. Of course fan favorites are always "Chick Magnet", "Responsibility" and the closing song "Punk Rawk Show". This is a band that is consistently delivers year after year.
