"You Wanted the Best, You Got the Best - KISS"
One never forgets those words and it was those words that kicked off the show on October 13th at the Verizon Center in Washington DC as KISS took the stage. The show was part of their KISS Alive/35 North American Tour and it took many back to a time in their youth when they first saw this band. The tour which is in commemoration of the anniversary release ofKISS Alive! which was released in 1975 but like Motley Crue who recently did a commemoration tour of a release, KISS's set was in the order of the album
with a couple of changes. Some songs were just moved around in the list while others like "Firehouse" were deleted and room was made for their single "Modern Day Delilah" off their current release Sonic Boom. Songs such as "Love Gun" (released 1977) and "Lick It Up"(released 1983) which are both fan favorites were added to the set as well as "I Love It Loud" which was release in 1982.
As with any KISS show, the production is as large as the platform shoes on the feet of the performers - pyro, blood, a flying Paul Stanley and confetti were all included which of course as any KISS Army member would tell is just all part of the show. I'll never forget back during the KISS reunion tour in the mid-90s, towards the end of the show the band told the crowd that if they didn't get their money's worth at a concert to let them know - that will never happen at a KISS show!
